The MHS Football Parent Group is dedicated to providing logistical support for the student athletes and coaching staff for the Indians football program. The football program offers training for over 125 student athletes each year and takes considerable organization to make sure the program is successful during a 2-month fall season.  Student athletes have the opportunity to participate in all four years from freshman to their senior year, but the time can go by quickly.   Being involved is a great way to meet other parents and to help continue the long-standing traditions that are important to our student athletes.  Please consider helping out and getting involved, even if it is to volunteer to help out with only one or two events.  The players and coaching staff greatly appreciate your support.

Fundraising – The football parent group holds several fundraising events during the summer and the fall football season.  A majority of the funds are used to purchase meals for players around game days.  Fundraising benefits the players and coaching staff with meals before and after away games, the end of year banquet, rental of buses for camps and playoff games, and training supplies for the weight room.

Pre-Game Meals – The Thursday evening before every varsity game that is either a home or away game, we feed ~75 JV/Varsity football players.  A Senior family is in charge of the menu and will let the other four families who volunteered to help for that date know what to bring.

Meals for Away Games – Before the players hop on the bus to travel to the away opponent, the parent group provides each player with a light snack/meal & drink.

Post Game Meals for Away Games – The Varsity team will have a team meal after away games. MHS Football Parents pay for the meals.

Saturday Morning Breakfasts – Saturday mornings come early after a Friday night game. We provide breakfast for the JV/Varsity players every Saturday morning as they watch film and have a light workout.  The football parents donate food every Saturday morning to cook breakfast for ~75 student athletes.

Clothing Sales – Performance Wear orders for players are taken in the late Spring and early Summer. Spirit wear for players and fans is designed by Cotton Tale Tees.  Check out Manhattan High Athletics – Cotton Tale Tees for some great apparel.

Fireworks Stand  – For the past several years, the Football Parents Group has organized a fireworks stand over the July 4 weekend.  The event requires 2 coordinators, and 6 parents and players for 4-hour shifts throughout a ~4-day weekend.  The Parents Group receives a portion of the sales and the fireworks stand has been one of the most successful fundraisers of the year.

Longhorn Pancake Feed  – Longhorn Steakhouse generously offers a place for a pancake feed to take place.  Longhorn Steakhouse donates the beverages and the pancakes as well.  HyVee donates the sausage for the event and the freshman squad works the event.    The event requires 2 coordinators, and 6-12 parents and players for shifts throughout a Saturday morning.  This year the event in August 25th.  Players will be out selling pancake tickets for $5.00.  The Parents Group receives 100% proceeds for the morning.
